Metro Detroit Emergent Cohort

The Metro Detroit Emergent Cohort is a monthly gathering for leaders of emerging communities throughout the metro Detroit area and others who may be interested in the conversation. This cohort functions as a resource, with attention given to practical application in local communities. We ask each other: how do you run it? what is it? worship, service, fellowship? how are you doing? We share our stories and participate in corporate prayer and fellowship at interesting venues around Metro Detroit. We are a group of emergent-minded people exploring the Gospel in the language of our post-modern, creative, and mission-oriented brothers and sisters in the beautiful Motor City.

Candle Light Vigil this Thursday Night

Emergent Ones:
I received a flyer tonight from my Jobs with Justice group. There will be a candle light vigil this Thursday evening (12-18-08), 5:30 pm at the Transcending Labor Monument in Hart Plaza, downtown Detroit. This is sponsored by the Interfaith Worker Justice organization. This is an outside event, please dress warmly. The purpose of the vigil is to raise awareness (and plead for intercession if you will) concerning the Big Three situation. This is an opportunity to act on social justice. Hope to see some of you there. I'll look like a tall Santa.
God Bless,

As a part of our conversation over the next few months, we're interested in being responsive to those particular topics that intrigue us the most. So, as a part of our discernment together, post comments below to tell everyone what you think might be good to talk about regarding the emergent conversation as it is taking shape here in Metro-Detroit!

How about these broader categories as a framework:

- ReReading the Scriptures: new questions, insights, lenses of study.
- ReLiving Discipleship: missional living, practical theology.
