Metro Detroit Emergent Cohort
The Metro Detroit Emergent Cohort is a monthly gathering for leaders of emerging communities throughout the metro Detroit area and others who may be interested in the conversation. This cohort functions as a resource, with attention given to practical application in local communities. We ask each other: how do you run it? what is it? worship, service, fellowship? how are you doing? We share our stories and participate in corporate prayer and fellowship at interesting venues around Metro Detroit. We are a group of emergent-minded people exploring the Gospel in the language of our post-modern, creative, and mission-oriented brothers and sisters in the beautiful Motor City.
Covenant House Faith Community (new volunteer house/group)
Faith Community Detroit:
Hey guys, we are a new volunteer program in Detroit(just started Nov '09). We live on-site the Covenant House Michigan property (MLK) and work full-time for the agency in a social-work kind of way. None of us are originally from here and would like to meet other intentional communities and individuals that are like-minded/interested in similar things. Due to security, we probably cannot host events here at our house but we would love to meet up with others in the area.
Books and the April Cohort
Hello!
April's Cohort will be on Thursday April 16th
Just like last month, we will have two gatherings, one during the day and one in the evening.
For information on the Lunchtime cohort, check back soon...
The evening Cohort will again be at Liberty Street Brewing Company in Plymouth (see last month's info for the website address!).
My wife and I have started reading (1) The Great Emergence, by P. Tickle (2) Jesus For President, by S. Claiborne and (3) The New Christians by Tony Jones.
March 19th - TWO Cohort Gatherings!
Hello everyone, after some more conversations we're trying something a little bit new for March. On Thursday, March 19th we'll be offering TWO times to gather as the Metro Detroit Emergent Cohort. One will be a lunch time gathering for those church professionals and others whose schedules are more open in the middle of the day. The second will be an evening gathering for those who prefer gathering at that time. Locations and etc will be coming soon. But, put these down on your calendar to hold the date.
Candle Light Vigil this Thursday Night
Emergent Ones:
I received a flyer tonight from my Jobs with Justice group. There will be a candle light vigil this Thursday evening (12-18-08), 5:30 pm at the Transcending Labor Monument in Hart Plaza, downtown Detroit. This is sponsored by the Interfaith Worker Justice organization. This is an outside event, please dress warmly. The purpose of the vigil is to raise awareness (and plead for intercession if you will) concerning the Big Three situation. This is an opportunity to act on social justice. Hope to see some of you there. I'll look like a tall Santa.
God Bless,
